What Are the Datassential 500 Awards?

The Datassential 500 Awards are designed to spotlight the most beloved, innovative, and impactful brands in foodservice today. While many industry rankings focus solely on revenue or physical footprint, the Datassential 500 recognizes brands that truly connect with consumers, lead with culinary creativity, and shape the future of dining.

Backed by over two decades of food and beverage data, Datassential uses a combination of AI-powered analytics, consumer surveys, menu insights, and trend forecasting to identify standouts across a wide range of categories, from overall consumer favorites to segment-specific leaders in burgers, chicken, pizza, coffee, and beyond.

How Are the Datassential 500 Award Winners Selected?

The Datassential 500 Awards are derived from findings in the 2026 Datassential 500 industry report, offering a comprehensive analysis of real consumer sentiment data from our Brand Performance tool, which captures consumer ratings across a wide range of perception metrics (e.g., net promoter score, value proposition, customer experience, food quality). We also incorporated data from our Launches & Ratings feature, which tracks new menu items and limited-time offer (LTO) releases, as well as publicly available brand information. We then analyzed 18,000+ chains across the U.S. and used these sources to gain a comprehensive view of how each brand is performing, not just operationally, but in the eyes of the consumer.

The Datassential 500 shines a light on the top emerging chains of 2026 as well as the brands earning loyalty, driving innovation, and defining what it means to lead in today’s restaurant landscape.
